I want to buy a red wine that has a high amount of resveratrol, which I understand is good for the health. What wines should I look for in low to high price ranges?
Hey, Oldtimer’s back! Happy day! ( :

There isn’t enough resveratrol in wine to really matter; but any red wine will have some (though just a little).

To get a high enough dose to make a difference, you may want to try supplements:

Everyone thinks i am at least 8 or 9 years yonger than my age and i would like to keep it that way. Any suggestions on as to what i should start using ??

you are never too young…start now, you will be glad when you are older….I am 36 started when i was 25, most say i look younger…don’t know if they are being polite or if it is true, but I look at other women my age and don’t think I look as old as they do

My old school pal has shown up in my life recently and we have been going out for a couple of beers’ together. Problem is he thinks he is trendy, cool and witty but instead is driving me mad! What can i do?

A few examples:

1. Throughout the 80s’ & 90s’ he had a very offensive moustache. (think Magnum P.I and Allo, Allo).

2. He wears tight t-shirts and a thumb ring. (He’s 42, has a bald spot and a beer-belly).

3. He dyes his hair and uses shampoo for brunettes’. (it’s true).

4. Has a tattoo of his ex-wife on his leg and tells everybody it’s Jim Morrison of the "DOORS" band.

5. Visits the beauty parlour for a "back, sack and crack" waxing treatment, and feels compelled to describe it to everyone he meets!

6. Uses a such a variety of perfumes and anti-wrinkle creams that when he goes out he smells and looks like a cross between a hooker and a Borneo orangatang!

7. Believes he’s a "looker" even when girls he went to school with tell him that he scared them!

Help

old hat is there no end 2 this old crap is there nothing new

I work for a local doctor who is developing a skincare line and we need a name.

This line will be sold to 24 – 65 year olds, primarily women. Price point will be between $20 – $80 per products, with most skewing on the lower end of that range. Products include cleansers, toners, exfoliators, antioxidants, acne treatments and more. The line focuses on facial rejuvenation and sun damage prevention (as well as acne treatment).

The only guidelines for the name are as follows:

* This is a doctor brand so the name needs to be medical, not commercial

* The domain name for the line name must be available. So for example, if the name is "Skin Essentials" than www.skinessentials.com needs to be available for purchase either directly through a registrar like GoDaddy.com or through a third party

Dr’s Choice is a good name……..

The eyes are the “window to the soul” and our most important facial feature. Unfortunately the eyelids are the first of our facial features to show the signs of facial aging often as early as the late 20’s or early 30’s. Many people complain that they are told that they look tired when they do not, a condition called tired eyes

Consequently many people seek plastic surgery to reverse the eyelid aging changes with a procedure called a blepharoplasty also known as an eyelid lift or eye tuck. This is one of the most frequently performed plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States and usually the first facial rejuvenation procedure that people seek.

The operation involves removing hooding or excess skin from the upper eyelid (upper blepharoplasty) and removing puffiness or bags from the lower eyelid (lower blepharoplasty).

Unfortunately most people do not really understand what these operations can and cannot correct and many people undergo the surgery only to be disappointed with the results achieved during the typical blepharoplasty as done in the United states today. The purpose of this article is to educate the consumer by exposing commonly held myths about the plastic surgery operation known as the blepharoplasty so that people considering eyelid rejuvenation will seek the appropriate treatment to correct the particular eyelid aging changes which are occurring on their own unique face.

Blepharoplasty Myth 1- Blepharoplasty will remove crow’s feet. Crow’s feet occur because of the repeated movement and contraction of the eyelid muscles that surround the eye and upper cheek. When we smile, blink etc, the muscle contracts and causes a wrinkle in the skin. After many years these lines become permanent. The blepharoplasty removes fat that causes bags, and can tighten the eyelid skin, but the muscle continues to contact and cause crow’s feet. Blepharoplasty does not correct crow’s feet. Fortunately Botox® can remove the crow’s feet from the cheek very effectively although Botox® needs to be repeated.

Blepharoplasty Myth 2- Blepharoplasty will remove wrinkled aged skin often called “crepiness” and restore the lower eyelid skin to fresh, young looking smooth skin. The Blepharoplasty can tighten the lower eyelid skin, but blepharoplasty alone leaves the eyelid skin looking old and damaged. The LaserLyte Peel™ when done at the time of a blepharoplasty can resurface the lower eyelid skin and leave it fresh looking-but blepharoplasty alone cannot achieve this

Blepharoplasty Myth 3- Blepharoplasty lifts the cheek and corrects puffiness below the eyelid. Many people have excess skin that creates a bulge or swelling on the cheekbone just below the eyelid. When you take your finger and pull the lower eyelid up this bulge, which is called a “festoon” smoothes out. Blepharoplasty alone will not improve the festoon. In fact if during a lower eyelid blepharoplasty fat, which is causing puffiness of the lower eyelid, is removed the festoon actually looks worse. This is a very common problem and can be a very unhappy result of a blepharoplasty. Festoons are hard to treat but can be improved by doing a cheek lift in some people. The important thing is to avoid worsening them by not doing fat removal during blepharoplasty in people who have festoons unless the cheek lift or other procedure is done at the same time. Other procedures such as canthoplasty or orbiculopexy done during the blepharoplasty can help.

Blepharoplasty Myth 4- Blepharoplasty will remove dark circles under the eyes. Many people have dark circles under the eyes-a dark shadow overlying the bone just below the eyelid. In many people a blepharoplasty will make the dark circle worse if too much fat is removed. To remove the dark circle under the eyes a special procedure called the arcus marginalis release and fat grafting must be done to correct the dark circle.

Blepharoplasty Myth 5- Blepharoplasty will remove hooding of the upper eyelid and improve eyebrow position. Many people have hooding of the upper eyelids that is caused not only by loose upper eyelid skin but also by the fact that the eyebrow has sagged as well. In these people an eyebrow lift must also be done to restore the upper eyelid to a youthful look.

Blepharoplasty Myth 6- A lower eyelid blepharoplasty must leave a visible scar on the lower eyelid. While traditional scalpel blepharoplasty does use an incision on the lower eyelid, more modern contemporary blepharoplasty is done with a laser through a small opening on the inside of the lower eyelid and leaves no visible scar. This technique, called the transconjunctival laser lower blepharoplasty not only avoids a scar but also preserves the beautiful natural shape of the eyelid. The traditional scalpel blepharoplasty done through an external incision often damages the supporting muscles of the lower eyelid and as a result the outside corner of the lower eyelid turns down into a “sad eyed” or “hound dog” look.

Beautiful eyelid rejuvenation is possible today using advanced new laser techniques, and additional new variations such as the arcus release, canthoplasty, and orbiculopexy. However these techniques are new and not widely practiced yet. It is very important that you understand what the eyelid rejuvenation techniques called blepharoplasty or eyelid lift or eyelid tuck can and cannot achieve and also that you have knowledge of the newest, safest, and most effective techniques. Only by being well informed can you hope to be happy with your result and not be disappointed or worse, have a different problem than you had before surgery. For a more thorough discussion of these issues study blepharoplasty in the archives of “ask dr seckel” and “whats new” at saveyourface.com.

And all of the other recommended products to go with it.

well you should’t need it if you are a child, however the minimum age i read was 13.
due to its ingredients.

You should take 1 capsule of Resveratrol Select 20 minutes before breakfast, and 1 capsule 20 minutes before lunch, or as directed by your healthcare provider.

Do not take within 5 hours of bedtime. also remember that diet and exercise are essential in achieving and maintaining optimum weight and good overall health.

There is a free trial available

better of giving it a try before buying the full box.

I am 21 years old and have started to notice a line between my eyebrows that comes when I squint and will stay there for a while afterward.

I exercise, try to eat healthily, and drink water.

Is there anything I can do to PREVENT my skin from aging? Is there such thing as early prevention? Thanks!

No, not really. Those products are angled at getting the most money possible out of desperate women.

Your best bet for avoiding wrinkles from ageing as long as possible is to protect your skin from the sun, keep yourself hydrated and healthy (which you’re doing), and avoid makeup and anything else which doesn’t contribute to your skin’s health, as much as you can.

If you don’t use your face and keep a vapid expression like a doll, you’ll avoid wrinkles too – but if you want to smile, laugh, frown or generally express emotion, I’m afraid you’re going to get them. This isn’t ageing – it’s living.

1. Never give a woman any kind of household appliance or something that is going to make "housework" easier. For instance, a blender, a toaster, a new vacuum, one of those mops they advertise on tv that does everything but suck the life out of you, anything in a informercial. The only wise choice is a new washing machine with a turbo spin cycle. (Makes laundry day go by pretty fast when you can at least sit on it during spin-dry and end up smiling the rest of the day.)

2. Any bulk cleaning supplies, "honey, I got you that large box of Tide you have been wanting." "This Windex should last you a while." "I got a good deal on the industrial strength toilet bowl cleaner." All I can say is, be prepared to run. I have faith that if you would have at least stopped and thought about what would be a much more intimate gift, you would have had the sense to spring for the $5 Chia Pet you were eyeing in Kmart.

3. Any sharp objects made by Ronco which slices or dices, or a set of ginsu knives. These may one day be used as a weapon against you when you come home with lipstick on your collar after a "night out with the boys."

4. Do not buy gifts for yourself and pretend they are for her. "Honey, I’m sure you’ll get a lot of use out of the new drill I bought you." By then she will have put it to good use by drilling a quarter inch hole into the side of your skull for even thinking she would accept such a lame gift. After a gift like this, you probably won’t be around for NEXT Christmas.

5. Any lingerie made of flannel, such as a pair of feet pajamas with a trap door in back. A Little Mermaid or Barney cartoon character nightgown. It gives her the idea that you do not consider her the sexy woman that she is. Take out that wallet and buy her something sexy from Victoria Secret (just like you did for your mistress or other girlfriend).

6. No name perfume which costs you $1.99, such as Eu de Toilet, which actually smells like the bathroom, moldy fruit, or your dirty socks. If you are going to buy her perfume, spring for the brand names.

7. Any type of cubic zirconia jewelry you see on the Home Shopping Network. It will be quite embarrassing when she is showing off that fabulous diamond to her friends and tries to cut glass with it. (We actually test them you know.) Also, now would not be a good time to buy her that set of diamond nipple clamps you always wanted to, you know how we like to show off our jewelry and it could get embarrassing at the New Year’s party when she decides to show them off to your buddies.

8. Please do not buy her clothes because you think for one minute you have good taste in woman’s clothing. Well, perhaps you might if you are a transvestite, but all in all, believe me, she’ll smile and say its beautiful while choking back tears and mumbling under her breath, "were the hell would I ever wear this outfit without being arrested for bad taste?" An additional hint, plaids do not go with stripes (even though you think your golfing outfit looks just fine). Its a known fact to the rest of the world that that is a taboo. In the Northeast, thats like wearing white after Labor Day.

9. Do not give her a gift certificate to Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. Most men would know better, especially the ones who have learned the correct response to "do these pants make me look fat." If you are one of the poor souls who still doesn’t get it and purchased a gift like this, be prepared for the silent treatment for a month. (Although that may be something you would actually look forward to.) A better alternative would be hiring a Chippendale dancer as a personal trainer to get her motivated into getting fit.

10. Last but not least, never buy a woman anti-wrinkle cream, or a book on "How not to be Nasty Sunday through Saturday." These are not considered gifts, they are considered reasons for seriously injuring the person who bought it and just may stand up in court of law.

i always used to do the point no. 6, now i know how wrong i was next time i will take care, LOL

I have oily congested skin, with big pores basically riddled with blackheads. I know no off the shelf is product is going to get anywhere near the result I am after – do you know of any surgical/non surgical facial rejuvenation treatments which might be suitable?

you need to be on a retinoid such as tazorac cream or gel. this will get rid of your blackheads & dry your skin somewhat. this is a prescription product. another option is to get a jessner or salicylic acid peel which will help w/ your pores (opening them to release the contents.) these peels can be done in medi-spas w/o a physician present & will run you $75-$125 depending on the medi-clinic. many dermatologists have cosmeticians on staff that do the peels so you will only have to pay for the peel & not a dr. visit. my advice is to get on the retinoid for best long term results.
good luck!

Nearly everyone over 30 years old sees wrinkles, loose skin and other signs of facial aging staring back at them in the mirror. Many would like to have a fresher younger looking face but no one wants to have plastic surgery. In recent years technological advances such as Botox®, Restylane®, Radiesse®, and new Lasers, IPL and skin tightening machines like Thermage®, Titan®, LuxIR®, and Aluma®, have improved the plastic surgeons ability to rejuvenate the face non-surgically, but none have been able to deliver the often promised “non-surgical face-lift.” The best results have achieved about a 30 % tightening of the facial skin. Dramatic results have been achieved in “wrinkle removal” when proper techniques have been applied, but true lifting or tightening of the facial skin has been modest at best

The new LaserLyte Lift™ promises to achieve a much more significant rejuvenation and lifting of the face with a new non-surgical multi-modality technique three phase procedure which not only tightens the facial skin but also removes wrinkles and other aging changes on the surface of the skin—all achieved non-surgically with minimal or no down time.

This new non-surgical high tech procedure is based on the theory that all of the skin layers must be treated and rejuvenated to accomplish true facial rejuvenation and is based on the principles of the 6-step facial rejuvenation program® outlined in my book “Save Your Face-The Revolutionary 6-Step Facial Rejuvenation Program.

The important changes in the facial skin which lead to an aged appearance occur predominantly in 3 layers-the epidermis or outer layer that you see in the mirror, and two deeper layers-the superficial and the deep dermis—the pink part of your skin you see when you scrape your knee.

As we age, the sun’s UV rays, and other age related factors damage all 3 layers of the skin. We see these changes in the form of wrinkles, brown spots and dry skin-changes in the Epidermis or outer layer. However the major changes causing wrinkles and sagging skin is damage to the 2 deeper layers of the dermis.

The result of aging changes in both layers of the dermis is the loss of collagen. Collagen plumps the skin and gives the skin its tone and elasticity. When we lose collagen from the dermis the skin loses volume and becomes wrinkled-the same way a plum turns into a prune when it loses water after drying. In addition when we lose collagen we lose elasticity, the skin does not snap back when we pull on it and release it, and the skin sags.

The key to non-surgical facial rejuvenation or a non-surgical face-lift is to remove the superficial aging changes form the superficial epidermis and restore new collagen and thus volume and elasticity to both the superficial and deep layers of the dermis

Contemporary non-surgical methods such as laser, IPL, Radiofrequency (Aluma®, Thermage®), and Infrared (LuxIR®, Titan®,) energies are capable of treating the surface of the skin and the deep dermis, but do not treat the middle layer of the dermis and thus cannot achieve complete non-surgical rejuvenation or a non-surgical face-lift.

New technology has finally enabled us to treat the middle skin layer-the upper dermis and stimulate new collagen regeneration in this layer using a 1540 fractionated erbium laser made by Palomar, with minimal or no down time. Thus we are now able to treat all three skin layers affected by aging, removing surface irregularities such as wrinkles, brown spots, and dry skin, and restoring collagen and thus plumping volume and elasticity to the middle and deep skin layers.

Thus we can achieve a true non-surgical facial rejuvenation or non-surgical face-lift for the first time addressing all three layers of the aged skin.

This procedure is called the LaserLyte Lift™ because Laser and other forms of light (lyte) energy are used to treat the three skin layers. The procedure takes time, as it requires multiple treatments scheduled several weeks apart over a time course of several months. However the results are striking-you can see them and believe them—you don’t have to try to convince yourself that they are there as you have with so many “miracle wrinkle cures” you have tried in the past.

The LaserLyte Lift™ involves three treatment protocols or phases.

Phase I begins with the important first 2 steps of the 6-step program®, deep exfoliation and stimulation of new collagen growth near the surface of the skin. This phase removes wrinkles, brown spots and restores the skins shiny glow. This is the LaserLyte Peel® achieved with the Lumenis Active Fx laser. This peel is performed with a topical skin anesthetic, takes 25 minutes, and leaves you pink for 4-5 days. Some people only need one peel others may need 2 or 3.These peels are scheduled 6-8 weeks apart.

Phase II-which is painless and involves no down time begins about 4weeks after your first LaserLyte Peel and is the start of your skin tightening regimen through stimulation of new collagen growth in the deep dermal layer by the application of Infrared or other energy which penetrates through the epidermis and superficial dermis to the deep dermis, to restore collagen and elasticity and tighten the facial skin. Treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart and at least 4 sessions are required.

The start of Phase III, mid dermal collagen stimulation, which involves no pain and minimal pinkness for a few hours only, using the 1540 or similar effective wavelength starts at a variable timetable depending on how many LaserLyte Peels you need. If you only need one peel Phase 3 can begin as early as 2-3 months and be alternated with Phase 2 at 2-week intervals. If you need 3 LaserLyte Peels then Phase 3 will not begin until 5-6 months.

While the LaserLyte Lift™ takes time it is the only method of facial rejuvenation to actively treat all three layers of the skin and thus the only method to achieve effective facial rejuvenation non-surgically. In fact, the LaserLyte Lift™ achieves more thorough facial rejuvenation than a surgical face-lift. A surgical face-lift only tightens the skin, after a surgical face-lift you have tight “old” skin. The LaserLyte Lift™ renews and rejuvenates all three skin layers, thus when you are finished your face truly looks younger, and remember, you are avoiding surgery and its dangers and discomfort. More importantly you are achieving true facial rejuvenation with wrinkle removal and new collagen, which plumps and tightens your skin to a truly youthful appearance.

As technology advances we undoubtedly will be able to achieve results is less time. However at present the LaserLyte Lift is the only method for rejuvenation of all three skin layers and it takes several months to achieve a good result.

For some people with very severe aging plastic surgery will be the best option, either in the form of a face-lift or laser resurfacing or both.

But for the vast majority of my patients who I see daily in my practice the LaserLyte Lift™ is an excellent way to achieve true facial rejuvenation without surgery a real “non-surgical” face-lift, with results you can see. No face cream, diet, laser, IPL, or other technology alone can achieve as good a result.

If you start before you have severe aging changes you will likely never need to have a face-lift.
